Honoring Program

The Myanmar Institute of Theology Alumni Association (MITAA) has been honoring its alumni annually in recognition of God's faithfulness and their dedicated ministry.

Each year, during the MITAA Annual General Meeting, which is traditionally held on the Saturday preceding the Myanmar Institute of Theology Graduation Ceremony, the Association recognizes alumni who are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their graduation from MIT, as well as those who have completed 40 years of continuous service in Christian ministry following their graduation.

In addition, alumni who have completed "50 years since graduation" are honored during the Myanmar Institute of Theology Graduation Ceremony itself.

Please note that each alumnus or alumna is recognized *only once*, based on the year of the degree earned. For example, an individual who has already been recognized for the 25th anniversary of their B.Th. graduation will not be recognized again for the 25th anniversary of their M.Div. graduation.

To prepare the list of honorees each year, the Alumni Association works from the official graduation records maintained by the MIT Registrar's Office and makes every effort to contact conventions, associations, and churches. Announcements are also published through social media platforms, including Facebook and Messenger. Those whose names appear on the published lists are requested to contact the MITAA Secretary or the Chairperson of the Recognition Committee.

Despite these efforts, it has sometimes been difficult to obtain updated contact information or to distinguish between alumni who have already been recognized and those who have passed away. To minimize omissions and ensure that alumni are recognized according to their graduation year, we kindly request alumni, churches, conventions, family members, relatives, and friends to assist by providing updated information.

For inquiries or to update alumni information, please contact:

  • Rev. Dr. Saw Myo Chit (Secretary)

  • - Sayama May Hnin Si (Chairperson, Recognition Committee)

During the years affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the country's political challenges, several graduating classes were recognized together at the Myanmar Baptist Convention Cushing Hall. The Committee sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience experienced during those years, including difficulties in attending the ceremony or delays in receiving certificates of recognition.

For the 2026 Recognition Ceremony, only three alumni celebrating their 50th graduation anniversary were able to attend in person:
- Rev. Catherine Pu
- Rev. Dr. Naw Say Khu
- Rev. Thang Tim Sum

On behalf of Rev. Bennardo Po Ba, his daughter, Daw Naw Eh Shi Thaw, attended the ceremony.

Among those recognized for 40 years of faithful ministry was Rev. Man San Maung, Senior Pastor of Tachileik Baptist Church, who has faithfully served the Lord for many years, including his ministry with the Youth Department of the Myanmar Baptist Convention. Unfortunately, he was unable to attend the ceremony due to health reasons.

The MIT Alumni Association extends its heartfelt appreciation to all alumni for their faithful service and prays that God will continue to bless and strengthen them as they serve His Kingdom.
